Drafts and Poor Insulation

If you feel drafts coming into your windows it’s a clear indication that they are no longer sealed correctly. This is going to lead to a lot of excess heat when the winter rolls around. It’s going to make it harder for your home to just stay cool in the summer as well. This can drive up your energy bills significantly. Modern windows have enhanced insulation features like triple and double glazing and this is going to significantly improve your home’s energy efficiency in the long run.

Condensation Between Panes

Condensation between your window pane is usually a signal that the seal has been broken. This means that moisture is being allowed to seep in. If you have double panes where insulating gas is used between the panes to prevent heat transfer this can happen when the seal begins to fail. Gas will escape and this will reduce the windows insulation capacity by leaps and bounds. It may lead to mould and mildew both inside and outside the glass if you’re not careful.

Frequent Repairs

If you’re finding that you have to do frequent repairs on your windows this is a huge issue as well. You need to question whether or not it is worth it in the long run. Make sure that you are hiring the right professionals to do the job for you. This way you can be sure of important aspects of making a window functional such as insulation, sealing and window screws are installed properly.

Increase Noise from Outside

You notice increased noise coming through from outside your windows. It may be that they are no longer giving you the effective installation. You should consider upgrading to energy efficient windows so that you can reduce the noise. Multiple pane windows that are energy efficient can take care of this problem effectively. This is especially great if you live near a busy road or in a neighbourhood that’s very busy. It can be a lifesaver.

Visible Damage or Decay

Obvious signs of wear such as rotting wood, chipped paint or cracked glass are all signs that your windows need to be replaced as soon as possible. You should also look out for water damage around your windows. Cracks and chips are going to compromise your security. These are all definitely a sign that you need to do a replacement. Don’t hesitate because the longer you wait the worse the problems will get.
