Review: Joe’s Kitchen York

July 2023 update: Joe’s Kitchen no longer has a restaurant in York.

I’m extremely excited to tell you all about the most recent restaurant I’ve reviewed. I was recently invited to Joe’s Kitchen in the lovely city of York, which is also my hometown. They have recently launched a new menu and asked me if I would like to go along with a guest and try some of their delicious food. Of course, when I mentioned this to Kiel, he was happy to come along to Joe’s Kitchen with me.

Joe’s Kitchen in York has a very light and friendly atmosphere. Although I don’t have children myself, there were plenty of families dining there and Joe’s Kitchen had plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Mangos In A Bar: “Vanilla vodka, fresh orange juice, mango purée and vanilla syrup.”

English Garden Rossini: “Strawberry purée and elderflower syrup, topped with Prosecco.”

With a variety of beautiful cocktails on the menu, it was a tough decision. To drink, Kiel had a bottle of Punk IPA. I had two cocktails in total, the first in a tall glass and I loved the prosecco mixed in with the strawberry flavours.

Mozzarella Bocconcini: “Two warm mozzarella pieces, hand coated with panko crumbs served with slow roasted tomatoes and rocket, finished with walnut pesto and balsamic vinegar.”

Avocado & Tomato Sourdough: “Two slices of sourdough topped with chopped tomato, avocado, walnut pesto and basil, drizzled with balsamic vinegar.”

Kiel chose the Mozzarella Bocconcini to start, which I had a cheeky little taste of – oh my god, they really were so good. I had the Avocado & Tomato Sourdough as my starter, which was delicious. There was a little bit too much tomato on it for me personally but I just removed some of it and I was more than happy.

Joes-Kitchen-Burger

Classic Burger: “Simply served with our 6oz* Foxham Farm beef patty.”

Grilled Halloumi Sandwich: “Grilled Halloumi, maple glazed traditional roasted veg and mint yoghurt in sourdough, served with Joe’s house salad.”

For main I decided on the Grilled Halloumi Sandwich, which was lovely and beautifully presented. I’m completely obsessed with halloumi cheese recently. Kiel had the Classic Burger which came with chips. I didn’t try his burger but it looked brilliant.

Joes-Kitchen-Dessert

Black Cherry Eton Mess: “Chunks of meringue layered with black cherry compote, topped with mixed berries, whipped cream and mint.”

We were so full after both starters and mains, that we decided we needed to share our dessert. We both have quite similar tastes with food, so we agreed on the Black Cherry Eton Mess which was beautifully presented and tasted gorgeous.

After such an incredible experience with awesome food, I am definitely excited about visiting Joe’s Kitchen York again in future.

If you’re looking for a mixture of a relaxed atmosphere, awesome food and tasty cocktails – you will totally love Joe’s Kitchen. I’m looking forward to hopefully visiting again soon and ordering some of those yummy cocktails! Joe’s Kitchen is perfect for families, pre-shopping drinks with friends or a dinner date. Thank you so much to the team at Joe’s Kitchen York for having us, we both left feeling very full but extremely happy.
