As humans, we love to collect and we tend to do it purely out of satisfaction. Coming up with different or alternative ideas for collectables can be tricky. There are some collectables which are “on trend” and the latest thing which everyone else seems to be collecting. I’ve put together a few alternative ideas for collectables below!
Clothing
This is something which I actually do – I collect clothes by one of my favourite brands, Black Milk Clothing. I’ve loved their clothes for years and I’ve built up such a huge collection. There are so many clothing lines out there who have followings, where you can trade/buy/sell their brand of clothes whilst also meeting new people. I’ve even gone away on holiday on a few occasions now, with friends from the community/people I’d only ever spoken to online via the black milk community.
Gold
Coin collecting is a popular hobby. Gold or silver coins is an obvious choice, but have you ever considered gold bars? Each gold bar comes in a variety of different sizes and can be traded. There are so many YouTube videos where people are showcasing their own collections of gold bars. So shiny.
Action figures/toys
When we are children, our toys are our pride and joy. There’s nothing wrong with re-discovering something you loved as a child and collecting those items as an adult. I absolutely loved Polly Pocket and I wish I’d kept all of mine so that I had my collection now. I’ve seen some people who have crazy amounts of Pokémon collectables and I am super jealous.
Items based on colour or theme
Another different idea is to collect items of your favourite colour, or a theme. Flamingos and pineapples seem to have become increasingly popular over recent years. I’ve seen some influencers who have entire bedrooms/their home in which everything is pink. Their photos always looks so aesthetically pleasing.
Do you collect anything in particular? I find it so interesting – let me know via the comments section below!
