Review: Tank & Paddle York – Gin & Easy Masterclass

I was kindly invited to review the Gin & Easy Masterclass at the Tank & Paddle York in August. Located on Bridge Street, what used to be Missoula has now rebranded and opened as the Tank & Paddle, which is known as a “pizza and beer place” around their London based venues. I invited my blogger friend Life of Pippa along as my plus one, as I know she likes gin just as much as I do. What a great way to spend a Thursday evening – gin tasting!

Firstly, I’ll begin by explaining that unfortunately due to a number of reasons, including the fact it was Yorkshire Day, meant that everyone pulled out of attending – other than myself and Pippa. We had the masterclass to ourselves, which was kind of cool to be honest. However, the invite also mentioned we would get to sample some of the food, which didn’t happen (possibly due to everyone cancelling?) and I’d done a 10 hour day at work, so I was absolutely starving by the time I arrived at the venue. It was a shame really, as I’ve heard some great things about the food at the Tank & Paddle.

Anyway, back to the Gin & Easy Masterclass! The Tank & Paddle offer 3 different gin tasting experiences, which differ in price depending which one you want to do. The Gin & Easy Masterclass is £20 per person, which aims to educate you in all things gin and gives you a full understand of gin & tonic and its history. Upon arrival, you are welcomed with a G&T and then you are taken through the history of gin, which is so interesting and you’ll also get to sample some different combinations of gin and mixers which you maybe usually wouldn’t try. The host will talk you through gin pairings, including what works and what doesn’t.

I was also very impressed with how accessible the Tank & Paddle York was for Pippa in her wheelchair.
