Review: Festive Menu at Browns Brasserie & Bar Leeds

Bookatable recently offered me the opportunity to review a festive menu at one of the many restaurants listed nearby on their website. When I spotted on the list that Browns Leeds had a festive menu, my decision was made. Based in a former banking hall, Browns Leeds offers a relaxing and atmospheric dining experience. The interiors of the building is absolutely stunning and looks even more beautiful with all of the Christmas decorations around the bar and restaurant. The festive music playing throughout the restaurant was the perfect touch to make the dining experience at Browns Leeds feel even more Christmassy.

Drinks

In the past I’ve attended blogger events at Browns, where I’ve reviewed the festive food and cocktails. I was excited to see what Browns Leeds had on the festive cocktails menu this year. The cocktail which caught my eye straight away, was the Winter Porn Star Martini. It was a great festive twist on a classic cocktail. One of my other favourite all time cocktails is the Cosmopolitan. I enjoyed my Cosmo whilst I was eating my dessert.

WINTER PORN STAR MARTINI

Cîroc Red Berry vodka, Prosecco, Zacapa 23 rum, passion fruit, pineapple and lemon juice.

COSMOPOLITAN

Absolut Citron vodka, Cointreau, cranberry, lime juice

Starters

To start, I decided on the prawn cocktail and my boyfriend chose the duck liver parfait. We each tried each others and both were so tasty. The prawns in the prawn cocktail were fresh and delightful. The presentation of both starters was perfect.

DUCK LIVER PARFAIT

Cherry sauce, spiced cranberry & orange toast

NORTH ATLANTIC PRAWN COCKTAIL

Classic cocktail sauce, buttered sourdough

Browns Leeds Turkey Main

Main

Our mains was the part we were both most excited for. Once again, the presentation was excellent and the both dishes were mouth watering in taste. The pork literally melted in my mouth and even the roast potatoes were cooked beautifully. However, I have since realised my pork dish came with everything listed for the turkey dish, instead of the mash etc which was supposed to come with the pork. Our mains were still divine.

SLOW-COOKED BELLY OF PORK

Sage mash, festive spices, Bramley apple butter, crackling, red wine jus

ROAST BREAST OF TURKEY

Chestnut & cranberry stuffing, pigs in blankets, garlic & thyme roast potatoes, maple roast carrots and parsnips, red wine jus

Dessert

There was a slight slip up with our desserts, where we waited quite a while due to some confusion with another tables orders. Our desserts were worth the wait though! The biscoff cheesecake was tasty and I loved the presentation of the dish. I’m also pleased to see a vegan dessert option on the festive menu, as some menus can lack this option.

BISCOFF CHEESECAKE (Vegan)

Red berries

ST CLEMENT’S POSSET (Vegetarian)

Candied orange peel, lemon biscuits

Value

The Browns Leeds festive menu is excellent value for money in my opinion. The festive menu offers 3 courses for £32, which is already reasonably priced. However, Browns Leeds have an early week offer – if you book for Sunday to Tuesday, between 12PM – 5PM, you can get 3 courses for £27 or 2 courses for £23. This is a brilliant offer to take advantage of if you’re looking for somewhere to eat on the days mentioned, between those times.
