4 Tips For Arranging Summer 2020 Holiday Plans

It’s hard to believe that 2020 is nearly upon us, as we come to the end of the decade. But while most people are probably still preoccupied with Christmas shopping and New Year’s Eve preparations, others are itching for their next sunny holiday – and who can blame them, with our winter weather! If you’re already planning your dream holiday for summer 2020, then continue reading for some handy tips that will ensure your travels go off without a hitch.

Plan the Perfect Itinerary

To ensure your holiday meets all your requirements, you should plan ahead by creating a suitable itinerary for your trip. If you’re not sure where to start, why not hire a travel expert to curate a tailor made itinerary specifically for you? This way, you can customise your perfect holiday to suit all your needs, and you can also get advice on the best restaurants, hotels, and attractions to book. Having someone else on hand to do thorough research and planning will take some of the pressure off you and will reassure you that your holiday is planned to perfection.

Try to Avoid Peak Travel Dates

You want to enjoy your summer getaway, but unfortunately, everyone else will have had the same idea. Hence, why roads become a congestion nightmare when you’re trying to set off on your travels. To prevent this headache, try to avoid flying on Fridays or Saturdays, as these days are when passenger numbers will be at their highest in UK airports over the holidays. If you are travelling with children, then you need to bear in mind the date that their schools break up for the summer holidays. Most schools break for the summer in mid-to-late July, so avoid roads, airports, and ferries from Friday to Sunday. If possible, you can try and get your children out of school a week early, but if not, just remember that there will be other parents planning to go on holiday as soon as the schools close, too.

Make Your Budget Go Further

Are you worried that your limited budget is restricting all your holiday plans? Fear not, you can still make your holiday budget go further without having to dip into your savings. Just follow these tips:

  • Cut out bad spending habits: these can include weekly takeaways, nights out, or shopping excursions as soon as you get your payslip.
  • Spend more time cooking meals and have a meal plan for each week.
  • Use discounts where and when you can.
  • Have a money pot just for your holiday spending.
  • Save money at the supermarket by buying in bulk.
  • Try and use less heating in your home (wear a jumper!)
  • Swap your brands, whether these are clothing, food, cosmetics, etc., for cheaper alternatives.

You don’t have to live frugally, but being more sensible with your money will see you get more out of your long-awaited holiday.

Get Out of Your Comfort Zone

Instead of visiting the most popular destinations, why not widen your horizons and explore some lesser-known areas? The world is your oyster, and there are hundreds of hidden gems just waiting to be uncovered by curious travellers. If you’d like to try something new, then it is worth finding an under-the-radar holiday destination. Travel to Huacachina, Peru, for a tranquil retreat in the middle of nowhere, or uncover a cave hidden behind waterfalls in Tinago Falls, Philippines. Or, if you fancy some spa treatments, travel to the volcanic island of Ischia Island, Italy, to experience its incredible thermal spas, volcanic mud, and hot springs. The point is it will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
