Virtual Dating During A Pandemic

Being stuck in lockdown and unable to meet face to face might seem like it’d hinder your dating life, but if you alter your mindset and get creative, it’s totally possible to organise dates and build a connection with someone. Right now, our need for human interaction is greater than ever – even if it’s virtual. You can take the time to develop stronger and deeper connections even without being able to meet. Here’s our advice on dating during the pandemic.

Dating apps/websites

Of course, you can use the usual dating apps which have become even more popular now people have time to spare. Dating apps and websites have done some updates for the pandemic and made certain features free to use currently. There are also dating websites based on location e.g. Cheshire dating site or dating Cheshire, so you can search specifically.

Have a first date video call

If you’re comfortable with video dates, they can be a good way of getting to know someone whilst you can’t meet up with them in person. Take the time to get to know each other without the pressure of being sat directly opposite someone. Talk about the things which interest both of you – your favourite films, books, podcasts, your hobbies, favourite Netflix shows, etc. The list is honestly endless and you will learn a lot about each other!

Be creative with your dates

There has never been a more convenient time to virtually date and you can make the best out of a bad situation by thinking positively. You can video call, voice chat, send voice notes, etc. You can consider different virtual date night ideas, such as virtual museum tours or cook together on a video call.

Use apps for a fun and unique date

Even though you won’t be able to hang out in person, there are now tons of ways to have fun even without any physical interaction. While video calling is one idea, you can take it to the next level and compete against one another in fun apps while you’re calling.

If you want a fun date idea, check out some of the multiplayer gaming apps on the Google Play Store or Apple’s App Store. Whether you want to challenge your new crush in Words With Friends or battle it out in UNO or Monopoly, there are tons of great apps that can make for an exciting online date.

Be honest and go easy on yourself

Be honest with yourself and what exactly it is you are looking for. We all currently have plenty of time during the pandemic, so don’t put pressure on yourself. This is a hard time and most people will also be struggling with the way the world is at the moment. It’s important to be kind to yourself, now more than ever.

Dating and relationships can be tricky anyway but especially when life is currently so drastically different to what we know to be “the norm”. Do what you feel comfortable with and take your time – it’s not like we don’t have plenty of time at the moment.
