3 Tips That Can Help You Feel Fit And Fab As A New Mother

While it can be fantastic to be a new mother, you might not feel all that fantastic within yourself. You’ve just had a baby, and no matter how much you love your new born and are glad to have them, that does tend to change a person! And sometimes, those changes can be painful, uncomfortable, and last a long time. So, what can you do to feel a bit more fit and fab as a new mother? Here are 3 things to try out.

Try Out a Bit More Stretching First

The most important thing right now, when you’ve only just had a baby and aren’t feeling your best self, is to help your body relaxThat means taking up a stretching routine that gets you engaging your core and pelvic muscles, testing them out, letting them stretch, and rebuilding your strength. Of course, make sure you check with a medical professional before doing too much stretching. You don’t want to pull on any stitches or accidentally make a damaged muscle weaker.

Take the Pressure Off

Not just the lower half of your body, but your shoulders as well. Yes, when it comes to ‘getting back into shape’ as a new mum, there’s usually a lot more mental stress and tension to cope with than there really should be. Because whether or not you felt your birth experience was ‘traumatic’, your body is feeling different right now. You might even feel like a bit of a stranger within it. But being told to ‘take it easy’ is just as helpful as someone telling you off for not exercising enough, so that’s not what we’re going to do here.

We just want to let you know that, if you’re feeling awkward about your body right now, both physically and mentally, you’re not alone in trying to deal with it. So firstly, it’s more than OK for you to take your time right now. And secondly, if you want to try and get back into a fitness routine, there’s plenty you can do to get into the swing of things. There are people you can talk to, new mum exercise groups you can try out, and plenty of video tutorials for gentle exercise that’ll help you get a bit of fitness in without wearing yourself out.

Visit a Wellness Centre

If nothing else quite makes you feel as fit and fab as you’d like, why not just book in for a bit of a pamper? A few hours at a wellness centre is a great option for new mothers in their postpartum phase, as these retreats and spas usually offer treatments that help to promote both healing and relaxation. You get some time to yourself, some peace and quiet, and you get to go home knowing you’ve treated your body just right.

If you’ve just had a baby, and you’d like to feel a bit more like yourself, you’ll want to focus on strength, relaxation, and taking your time.
