Dating can be daunting and a bit scary at the best of times, especially when life has changed so much due to the pandemic. Technology is amazing for so many reasons and one of the things which has become more popular is video dating. We can utilise technology when dating, it’s easy to operate and there are many pros to online dating.
Online can be the safer option
Although you should always be vigilant when dating, online dating can be safer as there is no pressure to actually meet up with someone unless YOU genuinely want to and feel safe doing so. Initially “meeting” someone online and getting to know them through video, means you are in control. You may also be more relaxed because you are home in your own surroundings, which is less anxiety inducing. You can block someone very quickly if you need to and you can also report them to the app/website you are using. Of course, there is always a risk when meeting anyone face to face online, so make sure you have a plan in place, just to be on the safe side.
Try a variety of apps/dating websites
You can search via location, e.g. Hertfordshire Dating Site or you can look based on an interest e.g. are you vegan looking to date another vegan? When I was single, a big factor I took into consideration was age (this purely comes down to personal preference, everyone is different). I personally didn’t want to waste my time talking to someone who was too young, so I would set a limit for minimum age and maximum age.
You may save money
Video dating can be less expensive than a face to face date, because you can remain at home and you don’t have to consider the cost of food or drink, or your travel such as bus or taxi money.
You can find someone local
As mentioned briefly above, you can narrow your search down by location, such as Hertfordshire Dating. Usually you can manually type the town, city or region in within your settings. On the other hand if you are looking for long distance (there may be many reasons people prefer this), you can widen your search area to as far as you would be willing to travel.
Time is precious
Lets be honest, we all lead busy lives. We don’t have time to waste constantly meeting up with potential dates. This is another reason why video dating can be a good idea initially, as it helps to save time whilst you build connections.
In person dates can be awkward
Avoid the awkwardness. Meeting someone for a date in person can be very awkward, especially if there are awkward silences and for whatever reason, you may not connect. It can be tough to remove yourself from the date. With video dating, you are more in control and can end the call if you aren’t feeling it.
Avoid the catfish
The term catfishing is used when someone creates and uses a fake online profile under someone else’s identity. Unfortunately, catfishing does happen a lot – especially in the age of the internet. Always make sure you stay safe. Never give out any personal details, such as your address, work place, etc. By using video technology, you can make sure the person is who they say they are.
