How long do you spend worrying about hypotheticals? Probably far longer than you should! This is certainly true if you lose sleep over these imagined stressors. Unfortunately, unnecessary worry and stress can be a difficult habit to break. After all, your brain is probably telling you that stressing out about these things is a form of self-preservation. And, sure, in some cases it can be. Sometimes, though, worry is less of a help and much more of a hindrance. On those occasions, you would be better off scrapping those thought cycles altogether. But, which worries should you think about leaving behind you? Keep on reading to find out.
The Future
Let’s jump right in with the largest hypothetical stress of all – the future. This big, looming possibility can look incredibly daunting from afar, but here’s a crucial piece of advice – there’s really no use worrying!
Even the worst future worries, like your fear of losing a loved one, are far worse in imagination. In reality, we’re a lot more resilient than we give ourselves credit for. When the time comes, you’ll likely draw on strength you didn’t even know you had for everything from contacting a funeral director to coping with those difficult first days. And similar truths can be said for everything from finding a new career to growing older. These are things you’ll never imagine for yourself, but that’s a large part of the reason why you should simply let the future happen when it comes!
Your Finances
Money worries may be a little more grounded in reality than fears about the future, but this is still something you shouldn’t stress about, and here’s why.
To a large extent, what you do with your money is in your control. Sure, prices change, but you have the power to control your spending, cut back, or attempt to increase your income. Does worrying help you with any of those things? No. If anything it probably stands in the way of getting that stuff sorted. So, scrap the worries in place of practical learning and improvements, and welcome a far happier, and probably far healthier financial life as a result.
What Other People Think of You
You knew this one would be on the list and it is. Sure, worries about what other people think of you might not live up to your worries about losing the people you love most, but you probably still spend a surprising amount of brain power thinking about this. And, you know what, it’s another thing that there’s absolutely no point worrying about.
Why? Because, just like the future, you can’t do a single thing about other people’s opinions, nor will your worries change anything. So, why not instead simply focus on living your best life, and always being the best version of yourself? You might even find that people like you better for it!
Life is too short, so stop worrying about these unnecessary things, and see how much happier you are as a result!
