Review: #TasteOfInnTravel Malton Blogger Event

When you’re a foodie like myself and get invited to a food related event, you can’t really say no can you! Last month I was invited along to an exciting event hosted by Zeal Buzz, in Malton to learn how to cook five dishes from around the world at Malton Cookery School.

Based in the centre of Malton, Malton Cookery School is a relaxing place to learn to cook. It’s also incredibly beautiful. With a main goal of putting Malton on the food map, local businesses and producers are keen to show how great their food/produce is.

I partnered up with the wonderful Lizi and we were tasked with making a black forest chocolate torte. We were a little nervous but we followed our recipe and managed to get it into the oven whilst still looking tasty.

We then got the chance to make our own mini pizzas! There was a selection of toppings which we could pick ourselves, to create a pizza which we would enjoy.

Throughout our time in the cookery school, it was fast paced and exciting. The room was filled with the smell of delicious food.

The final dishes we all worked together to create were:

Swedish mackerel on sourdough toast with cucumber and horseradish relish

Coq a la bier (a Yorkshire twist on the French Coq au Vin)

Italian mini pizzas with local Yorkshire toppings

I know we cooked the dishes but the food was seriously amazing, it all tasted so good! The wine/drinks which were selected specifically for each dish all fitted so well and made the taste-buds tingle.

After we’d all sat down to eat the tasty food we’d worked so hard to make, we were invited along to visit local businesses and producers in Malton. Keep an eye out for my next post which will be all about the food producers we visited!

This is what I loved about Malton, the people are so passionate about their food and proud of the place they call home. I’d absolutely love to return for the food festivals which they hold throughout the year.

Have you attended a cookery class before? What did you think? I loved it! Let me know in the comments.
