I was recently invited along to Jamie’s Italian York to review their Super Lunch menu with a guest. I’d heard a lot about Jamie’s Italian from family but had never got the opportunity to go along and experience it for myself. The Super Lunch costs either 2 courses for £11.95 or 3 courses for £13.95 and this menu is available between 12-6pm Monday to Friday.

Jamie’s Italian invited me to review their Super Lunch menu and gave me a budget to spend for my review. Unfortunately due to the availability of this specific menu I was asked to review, I could only visit after work. This meant that it was quite dark when taking photographs of my food.

Upon receiving my invite to review the menu, I headed straight to their website to get an idea of what I could expect. I was pleasantly surprised by the excellent price of the lunch menu. The York restaurant is actually quite intimate which I liked. We were seated by the window which was lovely. I was slightly worried that the whole menu would be pasta heavy, with it being an Italian restaurant.

Passion Fruit Royale – “Martini Bianco, passion fruit purée, apple juice & homemade vanilla syrup shaken up & topped with Jamie’s Prosecco.”
Silky Pâté Bruschetta – “Italian chicken-liver pâté, pancetta, vin santo & Parmesan.”

To begin, I had a Passion Fruit Royale cocktail and Kiel chose the Jamie’s Italian craft lager to drink. For starters we both chose the Silky Pâté Bruschetta which tasted beautiful and had a velvet texture. Kiel went for something a little different to what he was usually order, the Oxtail Tagliatelle. I tried a bit of his main which was very flavoursome and perfectly presented. For main I chose Gennaro’s Chicken Club which tasted incredible and melts in the mouth.

Oxtail Tagliatelle – “Our freshly made pasta with a slow-cooked oxtail & Chianti ragù, topped with aged Parmesan & crispy rosemary.”
Gennaro’s Chicken Club – “Brioche stuffed with chargrilled, marinated free-range chicken, crispy pancetta, spicy ‘nduja mayo, fontal cheese, tomato & rocket.”

We were so full from all of the tasty food that we decided to treat ourselves to another drink, instead of having dessert. Kiel had another lager, but I opted for a different cocktail this time – the Grey Goose Le Fizz which was incredible.
Grey Goose Le Fizz – “Grey Goose vodka, St Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh lime juice & soda.”

For the bargain price of £11.95, you can have 2 courses from the Super Lunch menu, or 3 courses for £13.95. The Super Lunch menu is available between 12-6pm Monday to Friday. Thank you so much to the Jamies Italian team in York for such a wonderful evening and for having us to review the Super Lunch menu. We were both pretty impressed and are planning on returning to Jamie’s York in the near future, especially because the set menus are such good value for money. We’re hoping to treat ourselves to the Evening menu on our next visit!
