In June 2022, Rosa’s Thai opened the doors to their restaurant in York, located on Coney Street. They also held a Rosa’s Thai York VIP evening/launch event which was so fun. Joe’s Kitchen is another restaurant which was previously located in the building where Rosa’s Thai now lives. I was recently invited back to Rosa’s Thai York to celebrate the launch of their bubble tea menu and try some for myself. I’d never tried bubble tea before this!
We visited on a Monday evening and it was actually quite busy to say it was a Monday. The restaurant has a friendly atmosphere, with seating inside and outside. We were seated at a table by the window, which was lovely to watch the world go by and chat whilst we waited for our food. The Rosa’s Thai menu encourages you to “eat Thai style”, sharing various plates with each other.
Rosa’s Thai Bubble Tea
In August, Rosa’s Thai launched their new bubble tea menu ready for summer. The bubble tea menu is available across all restaurants. The main purpose of my visit was that I was invited, with a guest (so I brought Tom my fiancé along with me) to try the new bubble tea menu! Neither of us had tried bubble tea before, but we are now both obsessed. I chose the Passion Fruit & Jasmine with Strawberry Bubbles bubble tea and Tom decided to have the Lychee & Jasmine with Mango Bubbles bubble tea. Bubble tea is definitely our new favourite summer drink!
The flavours available on the Rosa’s Thai Bubble Tea menu are:
- Passion Fruit & Jasmine with Strawberry Bubbles
- Lychee & Jasmine with Mango Bubbles
- Thai Lemon Iced Tea with Lychee Bubbles
- Home-brewed Thai Tea with Tapioca
- Nom Yen (known in Thailand as ‘pink milk’) with Tapioca
Next, it was time for the food. To share/as our starter, we had some tasty Pumpkin Crackers which was served with a sweet chilli dipping sauce. I also chose Steamed Jasmin Rice to accompany my main. To drink, as mentioned above, we each had our first bubble tea!
Tom ordered the Stir Fried Flat Noodles, with king prawns. When it came to the table, it arrived with chicken instead of prawns but neither of us had realised until he was half way through eating. When ordering, he was trying to decide between the prawns and chicken anyway so he was still happy with his main.
For my main, I ordered Rosa’s Red Curry which comes with a choice of a meat/fish/alternative options. These were veg & tofu, chicken, slow-cooked beef, or king prawns. I opted to have chicken with mine. The red curry was delicious and it is laced with bamboo shoots, fresh chillies and basil leaves.
We enjoyed the rest of our bubble tea on the walk back to our car. The staff at Rosa’s Thai York are incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you so much to Rosa’s Thai York and their PR team for inviting me back, we thoroughly enjoyed the bubble tea and our meal. I think between the two events I’ve now brought my fiancé, Tom, to at Rosa’s Thai York – we’ve now convinced him on how great Thai food actually is!
