Review: Dining at Manahatta York

Before Christmas, I was very kindly invited to Manahatta York to review the food menu. I’d previously been invited to Manahatta York’s VIP opening night, which was extremely fun and very busy. It was nice to see a quieter side to Manahatta during my food review. Manahatta York can be found on Little Stonegate, based in the building which used to be Banyan. I was allowed a plus one for my review, so I invited my mum along with me as she loves a good cocktail just as much as I do.

Starter

To start, I chose the Cheesy Dough Balls with Mexican garlic butter on the side. These doughballs melt in the mouth and the Mexican garlic butter is the perfect accompaniment for them. Mum decided on the Crispy Calamari Melts with seaweed salad and garlic mayo. As the name states, these were nice and crispy, with the garlic mayo on the side to compliment the calamari.

Main

Katsu Chicken Curry is a favourite dish of mine and when I saw it on the menu, I knew that was what I wanted to try. Manahatta’s Katsu Chicken Curry is chicken in a rich katsu curry sauce, fluffy rice, kimchi and sesame seeds. I liked the rich sauce and the dish was presented neatly. My mum chose a vegan burger, which is called the Beyond Brooklyn Burger. It’s a meat free burger, with pulled BBQ jackfruit, vegan cheese, beetroot bun, vegan chipotle mayo, and an onion ring. Served with sweet potato wedges. She chose not to have the onion ring though.

Cocktails

I’m a big fan of the Pornstar Martini, especially the one that Manahatta does, which consists of Finlandia vodka, Passini passion fruit liqueur, pineapple, vanilla, passion fruit and prosecco. I can’t quite remember but I think the other drink we had was the Almond Fizz, which was Russian standard vodka, fig, almond, lemon and prosecco. I’m a cocktail kind of woman and the cocktails at Manahatta are awesome every single time I’ve visited since this review.

We decided not to have dessert during this visit, as we were so full up from the delicious food and cocktails! Thank you to Manahatta York for inviting me to review the food menu with a guest. I’ve been back since and tried some new things on the healthy January menu as a paying customer – the quality of the food was impressive. I will be continuing to come back to Manahatta York for the good food and the brilliant cocktails!
