#Blogmas – Chatsworth House at Christmas with Mr Toad

On Sunday, Becky and I decided to head to Chatsworth House for the day. Neither of us had ever been before, so we were really looking forward to it. When we first looked at the entry prices we were slightly shocked, but decided to go anyway.

We arrived at Chatsworth House just before 1pm. Becky managed to park the car on the field (for £3) but it was really muddy because it had rained that morning. We grabbed our stuff and headed to the entry gates. There wasn’t much of a queue, which meant we paid and entered into the house quite fast. Our time slot for viewing the house was 1:30pm.

This year, Chatsworth took inspiration from the children’s classic, Wind in the Willows. The lower floors had been transformed into scenes based on Wind in the Willows.

Each room contains a different scene. I loved the sound effects that each area had. It was the perfect touch to each scene.

Children can place their wishes using a gift tag and a pen onto the Wishes Trees. There were some sad ones about family members who’d passed and there were also happy wishes asking for a healthy and happy 2016. The wishes were lovely to read.

After leaving the main house, we went to find the maze. We did actually end up getting lost inside it, but so did many others. After what felt like ages, we made it to the middle! It was fun.

Next we went for a bit of a walk around the grounds. Then went and had lunch in the café. Both of us decided to have salad. Becky had tea and I had a hot chocolate as I needed something warm for my tummy.

Next up – the farm animals. Both of us were so excited for this part. There were huge pigs, horses, cows, sheep and more! The piglets were so adorable.

Once we’d finished looking at the animals, we went to the main bit with the shops. We didn’t realise there was a proper restaurant, we’d have probably ate there if we had.

The whole of Chatsworth House and the Chatsworth grounds had such a festive feel. It was really lovely.

A lot of hard work and effort had clearly gone into transforming Chatsworth House this Christmas. If you’ve never been to Chatsworth House before, I’d really recommend it – especially at Christmas. You can celebrate Christmas at Chatsworth House with Mr Toad until the 3rd January 2016.
