Font Ideas For Bloggers

Creating your blog and designing your graphics is a big deal, as it’s your blogs branding. I’d previously wrote a blog post on how to choose your blog name. Now I’ve put together this blog post of font ideas for bloggers with suggestions and tips, from popular fonts to the more unique fonts available from around the web. Some people compare choosing a font to choosing which outfit to wear. What your clothes do for you, can be compared to what a font will do for your blog. That’s why deciding on a decent font for your logo which also looks good, is so important.

Ensure your font is readable

When considering your logo font, you need to ensure it is clear and readable. My pet hate is unreadable fonts used in logos, as I then can’t work out what their branding is supposed to say. Consider the sizing of your font and the spacing also, as different devices may make fonts appear slightly differently. It’s also important you consider white space, as a lack of white space will not be easy on the eyes for your blogs users.

Play around with a variety of different fonts to see what works/what doesn’t

Try out a few different fonts and styles to see what looks good, and what doesn’t really work. This will help to narrow your choices down. It’s important you consider your target audiences and which fonts they will prefer.

Show your personality via your logo

Match the font to your personality or the theme of your blog. Do you prefer something clean, modern and simple? What about a script font which is more feminine? These are all important things to consider. Try it with and without colour to see which looks better.

Ask others for their opinions

Once you’ve put together a few varied mock logo designs, you can present them all to your friends or family and ask them to choose their favourite(s). You may have a overall favourite from those you ask, or their opinions may differ, but getting others opinions is very helpful in the design process.

Seek professional help from a freelancer if necessary

When I first created my blog, I paid a freelance graphic designer to create my logo and branding for my blog. It is now probably due an update, but it’ll still do for now until I can really commit some more time into rebranding my blog. My initial logos were created by me, but once I saved up some money, I sought out the services of a freelance designer. There’s nothing wrong with giving it a try yourself, or seeking help from a professional. It’s just which ever works best for you.

I hope you find these tips and suggestions on font ideas for bloggers useful. You will probably know when you find something you like, but it’s still good to test out a variety of fonts and seek out the opinions of others. Good luck with your new blog and branding!
