GCSE Results – Don’t Panic

Results day has dominated the news and social media over the past couple of days, so I want to share my GCSE results experience and where I am now. I’m hoping to also give you a bit of advice.

I didn’t do very well in my GCSEs. I did try my best and studied hard but I went through a bad time during my childhood, resulting in running away from home twice.

I thought my life was over when I got my results in 2007, they were so bad. I thought I would get no where with my life.

GCSEs are important, but it really ISN’T the end of the world!

After finishing school, I went to college for three years and studied two media courses. I left college with a distinction in my first course and triple distinctions in the second.

Last year I graduated Sheffield Hallam University with a 2:1 in Public Relations and Media. I’ve never been so proud. Although it was tough, I loved university. I did so much growing up.

You can go to college and university/do other things, even if you don’t get the results you’d hoped for in your GCSEs. You do have to work really hard though. If you WANT something, you’ll work hard to get it.

Now I’m 24, living in Sheffield with my boyfriend. I’ve decided I don’t even want to continue with the career my degree’s in. I’m currently enjoying working in administration in the health care industry.

GCSEs are important, but you can achieve pretty much anything if you work hard and make it happen.
