Review: Rubin Extensions Clip In Hair Extensions

Are you curious about clip in hair extensions? Rubin Extensions offered me the opportunity to collaborate and try out their clip in hair extensions for myself. I do have relatively long hair myself, but sometimes its nice to have that extra bit of length. Silly me – I dyed my hair purple over my blonde without thinking, before the extensions had arrived. During my teenage years I wore clip in hair extensions probably 98% of the time. In this review, I will be considering and providing feedback on colour match, quality, washing/drying, use and styling of these new ombre chocolate roast brown honey blonde clip in hair extensions.

 

About Rubin Extensions

Based in Switzerland, Rubin offers a wide variety of products including clip in hair extensions, pony tail extensions, tape-in extensions, hair care products, and much more. All extensions are made with real human hair. Rubin have a big Instagram following who are very engaged and they have also appeared in publications such as Vogue and Cosmopolitan.

All of the products Rubin Extensions sent me arrived well packaged and secure in the box. Included was two sets of clip in hair extensions, replacement clips, a golden princess hair brush, hair extensions shampoo, hair extensions conditioner, hair extensions spray conditioner and hair extensions serum.

I was sent two sets of the hair extensions, which includes per set:

• 1 piece with 4 clips – 22 cm wide
• 2 pieces with 3 clips – 15 cm wide
• 2 pieces with 2 clips – 9 cm wide
• 2 pieces with 1 clip – 3 cm wide

 

Rubin hair extensions product quality

The extensions are silky and soft to touch, even after I dyed and washed mine. I do think the hair care products from the Rubin Extensions website also helped to keep them so soft. The length of my extensions are perfect, as I like my hair to look a lot longer when I’m wearing hair extensions (I’ve owned shorter sets in the past).

 

Colour matching

Colour matching when buying hair extensions online can be quite tricky. I’m quite good at knowing what shade my hair is because of how much experience I’ve had with hair extensions (& I’ve made mistakes when choosing in the past). Rubin actually offer a helpful service where you can email them a photo of your hair and they will suggest which colour is most suitable/the best match.

Washing

As I explained above, I was dying mine purple to match my current hair colour. Usually, I probably wouldn’t recommend dying extensions but it’s completely up to you. I’m used to washing hair extensions due to owning them in the past. I’d say you need a good hour or so spare to do it, I especially did because I had two sets to wash after I’d dyed mine. The hair extension care products, such as the shampoo and conditioner, help to maintain the extensions so they last for as long as possible.

 

Drying

As I wasn’t in a rush to dry my extensions (I was planning to wear them a few days later), I let them air dry naturally. I kept an eye on them whilst they were drying and when I felt a tiny bit of dampness left in them, I dried them using a hairdryer after applying some serum and the spray conditioner.

 

Styling

I have a few tricks I use when styling extensions to try save time in the long run. As I knew I wanted to have them curly, I curled them on the morning of the day I wanted to wear them. This meant that when I was getting ready to go out, I just needed to clip them in and curl any bits which had lost their shape.

 

I’m so pleased with how my Rubin Extensions look in my hair and how the colours turned out after I dyed them myself. I’m also very happy with the quality and volume of my hair extensions.
