Review: The York Roast Co

AD – Gifted | Last month, I was kindly invited by The York Roast Co to pop along to my nearest store and try their food for myself. The York Roast Co are well known for their famous Yorkshire Pudding Wrap, after it went viral and has been featured on TV shows such as This Morning. They offer a variety of hearty roast-inspired dishes, including sandwiches, the YorkyPud™ Wrap, a classic roast, etc. I was excited to try the Yorkshire Pudding Wrap which so many people speak highly of.

The York Roast Co is family run since 2004, with five locations which includes York, Chester, Shrewsbury and Salisbury. York has two shops located in the city centre, both with seating areas if you do want to eat in. Of course, there is also always the option to takeaway. Dotted around are posters showcasing items on The York Roast Co menu. Thinking back, I do remember seeing their festive version of the Yorkshire pudding wraps on social media last year, which I would love to try next Christmas.

As we went to sit down and eat, the queue by this point was getting longer. This shows just how popular The York Roast Co is! As we were gifted meal deal vouchers to do this review, both Kiel and I chose to have a YorkyPud™ Wrap, a side and a drink each.

Now, the Yorkshire Pudding Wrap itself! I had to unwrap mine so that I could photograph it properly. I opted for pork and Kiel chose beef as the meat filling. The wrap consists of a flattened Yorkshire pudding, wrapped around a full roast dinner, which is then rolled up like a burrito. My pork wrap was full of flavour, packed with fresh vegetables and tasty gravy.

For our sides, I decided to have the pork scratchings and Kiel chose roast potatoes. These were presented in a The York Roast Co cup, which I thought was a cute touch. The pork scratchings were salty and crispy, although I was very full after eating the wrap so I couldn’t finish them. The roast potatoes were covered in a warm, rich gravy.

When I think of Yorkshire fast food, this is what comes to mind. Thank you to The York Roast Co for inviting me to try out your delicious food. The York Roast Co is available to takeaway, eat in, or order via Deliveroo / JustEat.

  1. You were obviously paid to give a positive review. I went yesterday and it was disgusting. Tasteless gravy, my dog wouldn’t eat the pork!!! Lol

    1. Hi Robert, this review discloses that it was gifted (so to be specific I was given vouchers to claim the meal to review). I wasn’t paid to give a positive review. However, this post was written in 2020. We’re now in 2026, so things may have changed since I last visited.
