Recently I was invited to attend an event, hosted by Carphone Warehouse, to celebrate the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone, at The Alchemist – Greek Street, Leeds. I thought I’d write this blog post to explain to you guys what happened at the Samsung Galaxy S8 launch event and my initial thoughts on the new phone itself.

As an Apple fan and iPhone user, I was very interested to test out the new Samsung Galaxy S8 and see its new features. Of course, the first app I went to on the phone, was the camera. I wanted to test out the photo quality and I’d also been informed of some pretty cool filters which I was excited to try. Upon arrival, there was a selection of delicious nibbles to snack on and the prosecco was flowing.

During the event, we had the opportunity to test out the Samsung Galaxy S8 phone and we were also given photography tips by an extremely helpful professional photographer, Richard Storrow. The Alchemist, Leeds was the ideal venue for an event such as this one, due to the beautiful decor and perfect lighting.
Richard was so helpful and passionate about photography. He talked to me about using lighting to your advantage, thinking about reflections and composition rules.

Attending events as a blogger, we are generally very lucky to be gifted goodie bags. The goodie bag contained a variety of absolutely awesome products, including a Power Bank phone charger, a selfie journal, phone camera accessories and chocolate.

We were tasked with an exciting challenge, with the opportunity to take home a brand new Samsung Galaxy S8 phone for ourselves. My submission was the “Staff Only” sign, as I liked the lighting and I thought of it as an American Horror Story style image.

This event was so fun and very informative. I’m very impressed by the Samsung Galaxy S8, especially as it comes with 64GB memory as standard. Memory is something I struggle with on my iPhone. It was nice to attend something a bit different to “the norm”, as a blogger. Thank you for inviting me, I really enjoyed myself.
