Sheffield Food Festival May 2015

Yesterday I met a friend, Ellie, in town for some lunch. Even though I knew it was the bank holiday, I wondered why town was so busy.

Then I remembered, it was Sheffield Food Festival this weekend!

Before looking around the stalls, we decided to go for food in Wetherspoons. I had a grilled chicken burger.

Afterwards, we had a quick look around some shops as I wanted some black leggings. Then we headed over to Sheffield Food Festival.

It was extremely busy. The queue for most stalls were very long. I was happy to see free-from and vegetarian or vegan options at some of the stalls.

The food on all stalls looked so nice. Some had certain products you could try. I wish I had more money on me because there’s so much I could have and probably would have bought.

Some freebies were also handed out, I managed to get some Belvita Tops Choco-Hazelnuts to try. They were so delicious, but they did have a may contain milk warning on the packaging. I was fine though.

I tried to get as many photos of the different stalls as I could, but it was so busy it was hard to avoid other people appearing in the photos. I got this quick photo of the fudge stall, which looked awesome.

I’ve tried food made by Designed2Eat before, including an amazing birthday cake at my friends birthday meal. Charleh and the Designed2Eat team said they’d had an incredibly busy day.

I looked over at the tasting dishes, I noticed many hands from passers-by grabbing samples of the Fudge Brownie.

I knew I wanted to treat myself to something from Designed2Eat, so I opted for a Fudge Brownie which was dairy, egg, wheat and gluten free.

This afternoon I decided to sit down with a cup of tea (almond milk) and the Designed2Eat Fudge Brownie.

Upon opening the packaging, the brownie smells so good. The texture is so soft but had the fudge-like consistency. I felt quite full after eating half, so I’ve saved the rest to enjoy later.

This is by far the best brownie I’ve tried since going dairy free.

Summary

I thought Sheffield Food Festival was brilliant. A lot of organisation clearly went into the event, as there were so many brilliant stalls. I love the thought of supporting local businesses. There was such a variety of different food and craft businesses. I’m so pleased that I attended, I’m very impressed.

Have you attended Sheffield Food Festival this bank holiday weekend? What did you think? I’d love to know your thoughts. Please let me know in the comments below.
