At the time of writing this blog post (April 2020), we’re experiencing a global pandemic. Dating and long distance relationships may be tricky during the current situation but it is possible. Long distance relationships are increasingly popular, but especially now as you can’t meet up with someone to go on a date. It can be hard staying connected with someone, or keeping that spark going, but phone calls, texts, emails will only help so much. This is why I’ve put together a list of suggestions for virtual date night ideas!
Plan a meal and cook together
Plan to make a meal which you both enjoy. This can be a great way of communicating, as one person can talk the other through how to cook the meal via a video call. I personally find cooking really relaxing and during this time I’ve been enjoying cooking my HelloFresh recipes which I get delivered weekly. Using a service such as HelloFresh is a great idea in this kind of situation.
Gaming
By gaming, I mean either apps which you can play on against each other such as Words with Friends or maybe board games you both own. If you own a gaming console such as an Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, etc, find games you can play together and virtually hang out on. A personal favourite of mine is Animal Crossing New Horizons which is the perfect game for virtually meeting up with your friends or a date.
Virtually tour a museum together
There are plenty of museums now which offer virtual tours, so an interesting/different date night idea could be to partake in one of those virtual tours together. An example of this is the Van Gogh museum, or you could try searching for more local museums offering virtual tours.
Work out together
If you’re both into your fitness, there are plenty of work outs and fitness routines available at the moment. Fitness trainers are live streaming and recording their workouts, so you could schedule a gym date in together.
Watch movies/shows
Maybe this seems like an obvious one, but there are so many video streaming services now – especially with the recent launch of Disney+. Pick a film or show which you both want to watch and decide on a time to watch it together via video call.
Create a playlist together
Whether you have similar or different music tastes, a cute idea could be to create a date night play list together. You can then listen to this together whilst you’re gaming, chatting, cooking, etc.
Dating is perfectly ok in the current situation, as long as you’re not meeting up with anyone face to face. If you’re looking to date someone, you can search via location such as Buckinghamshire dating, or you could look to find something more specific, e.g. Mature Buckinghamshire Dating. At a time like this, it’s important to put in the effort and you will mentally benefit from being virtually social. Hopefully you find these virtual date ideas useful, whether you’re in a newer relationship or just dating someone.
