In general, planning a wedding is hard. However, planning a wedding in a global pandemic will be very tough. There are so many decisions which need to be made, to ensure your big day goes to plan. It can become overwhelming when considering your to-do list, family drama, etc. Throw a pandemic into the mix = mind blown. Smaller details may be overlooked. I’ve put together some tips and things to consider so you can avoid forgetting about the smaller details.

Invites and gifting instructions

Your wedding invitations are the main part of showing your potential guests that you want them to be a part of your wedding day! They aren’t to be used as a way of asking for wedding gifts. This would be poor wedding etiquette and people be potentially be quite offended. You don’t want to look as if you are being rude towards your guests. If you do wish to include gifting information, try to keep it subtle and not as a main feature of the invite itself.

Who is in your wedding party

Asking someone to be in your wedding party is a huge compliment, but they will also help you with making your day run as smoothly as possible. It’s a good idea to let them know you appreciate them and be sure to thank them for their time. E.g. if they are up early with you helping to get you/things ready on the wedding day, you could provide them with some drinks and snacks as a kind gesture. You could also give them a bridesmaid gift to show them your appreciation.

The bridesmaids and groomsmen

Following on from the above point, after you’ve decided who you want to ask to be in your wedding party – you will then need to consider clothing for the occasion. Will you buy them as a gift for your bridesmaids and groomsmen? You’ll need to consider where you are buying the dresses or suits for your wedding party e.g. you can buy wedding suits from Suitsmen.

Timing

Guests can sometimes feel forgotten about when the bride and groom disappear for photographs, but the bar isn’t open yet and there is nothing else for them to do. Try to plan things so that once the ceremony finishes, there are drinks available or the bar opens at that time. This will keep everyone else entertained and you can go elsewhere to have your photos taken.

Accepting that things may not always go to plan

Yes, it may be disappointing when things don’t go to plan or something turns out different to your original vision/idea. It is your wedding day after all, but the key is to remember that everyone is there to celebrate your day and everyone is happy for you – wanting to celebrate your marriage with you. Enjoy yourself!
