4 Top Tips For Relaxation & Self Care

It’s important in todays busy world to take some time for relaxation and to look after ourselves, which is known as self care. Taking some time out for ourselves is perfectly OK and even though it can be tricky, it’s also acceptable to say no sometimes. You don’t have to do everything! What works for me, may not work for others but I’ve put together a few of my own personal favourite self care tips. CBD is said to help anxiety, you can find suitable products for yourself by searching online for best hemp oil in the UK.

Spa days

This is one of my favourite things to do – heading out for a spa day where you can fully unwind. When I’m on a budget, I sometimes re-create a spa experience at home with face masks, running a warm bath and having a selection of bathbombs to choose from. Usually this is enjoyed with a cocktail or glass of prosecco. If you really love having a spa day, you could consider having a luxury bespoke Nordic steam room in your home. I’m just imagining how amazing it would be to be able to retreat to your own private steam room or sauna – incredible!

Travel/take a self care trip

Some people, like myself, find getting away from everything every so often really beneficial, as it gives you the chance to clear your mind and for relaxation. For example, my mum and I recently booked a Yorkshire weekend away to a little cottage called Cheeky Chicken Cottage. We were surrounded by farm animals and it was honestly such a lovely trip. We also had use of the private hot tub which was brilliant and fabulous for relaxation. You don’t even have to go far, as I live in Yorkshire and we chose somewhere peaceful in a village, just a short drive from the city I live in.

Pets and animals

When my mental health has been at its worst, something which really helped me was being around my pets. Animals bring with them unconditional love and usually, plenty of cuddles. Dogs in particular can help to reduce stress and feelings of anxiety. You could also incorporate this into my previous tip, by having a trip to somewhere animal related such as a zoo or farm.

Surround yourself with nature

It’s such a simple idea but one I find particularly effective, by getting yourself outside this can help to calm anxious feelings. Whether it’s a walk in the nearest woods, walking on the beach or sitting by the river – by spending some time outside you can really benefit mentally and emotionally. You can even practice some meditation whilst outdoors, simply by closing your eyes and focusing on your breathing.

Think about the things you enjoy and how you can include those in your self care routine. Even simply taking some time out for reflection can be beneficial, by focusing on positivity. There is no real right or wrong with regards to self care, it’s just about what works best for you to help you relax. Whatever you decide to do, taking time for self care and relaxation is imperative.
