A Relaxing Stay At Cheeky Chicken Cottage

My mum and I recently booked a little break away at Cheeky Chicken Cottage in Huby, North Yorkshire (near Easingwold). As our stay was so wonderful, I’ve decided to write up a review of our stay (which we paid for ourselves) as we had such a brilliant time and we really enjoyed ourselves during a relaxing two day stay. Cheeky Chicken Cottage is located on the land near Tracy and Gary’s family home, on a small holding with an animal sanctuary.

The cottage has two quaint bedrooms, the living room area, a kitchen, dining area, bathroom and private decking outside with a hot tub. Tracy and Gary were both incredibly friendly and welcoming, we felt a real warmth from them both upon arrival. Cheeky Chicken Cottage is perfect – clean, cosy and relaxing. I loved the welcome hamper which Tracy had put together, which included fresh eggs from the hens.

The hot tub is decorated with beautiful, colourful lights which twinkle throughout the evening. Both evenings, we would have our tea and then get ready to get into the hot tub. It was incredibly relaxing being able to jump in the hot tub when ever we fancied, between the hours allowed. It was nice to just chill out with my mum in such a relaxing environment, before heading inside to shower and get into our PJs.

The horses were so adorable and had so much personality. Blue (the white horse) was quite sassy and kept dancing after he stole the other horses food. I absolutely loved sitting with the bunnies for a bit, although they are obviously jumpy, they were incredibly curious and kept coming over to say hello to me.

I went egg collecting during our stay 🐓

I also got to go egg collecting in the afternoon, which was really fun and I genuinely enjoyed it. The chickens were loving roaming around the farm. They even came and greeted us when we first arrived to check-in, which was a great surprise.

I have to mention the goats – Colin and Keith. They were brilliant, although curious, they seemed to enjoy it when mum and I fed them their tea on our 2nd day. They seem to love cosying up together.

After waking up in such a stunning location, we decided to pop for lunch out in Easingwold at one of our favourite tea rooms, TeaHee. Their Halloumi, spinach, coriander and lime pesto wrap is an absolute favourite of mine, which I have every time we visit. Mum also treated herself to some homemade scones with strawberry jam.

There are three donkeys on the farm, the mother and her two little ones – although they aren’t so little any more! The donkeys were so full of personality, I found them absolutely hilarious. They even came right up to my camera when I was saying goodbye, as you can see from the picture below!

Thank you to Tracy, Gary, their family and animals for making us feel so welcome and having us. It was the relaxing break that we both needed and hoped it would be – it exceeded my expectations if anything. Tracy and Gary are amazing hosts and we felt really at home in Cheeky Chicken Cottage. They deserve every success as they have done such a wonderful job, with plenty of personal touches and just from looking at the calendar, I could see the cottage books up fast! We are hoping to return for another break very soon!
