Last month was the opening of Moxy York and I was kindly invited along to their launch event which was very unique and fun. Moxy York is a new 118 room hotel, located in the city centre with an affordable price tag. Promising to cater for city residents and hotel guests, Moxy York has a bar, café, games area and workstations that can also be used by locals. Also in attendance were some of my York blogging gals, Natalie, Pippa and Tori. Unfortunately I was at work until 6pm thus I was late arriving to the event and it was all in full swing by the time I arrived, so I had missed the introductions and opening ceremony which had lots of confetti.

Moxy Hotel is a fun and quirky brand that aims to bring a boutique feel, at an affordable price. When you are looking for places to stay, you’ll always want to be careful and find somewhere that is going to be suitable for your needs. The interior theme is designed with some of York’s history in mind, boasting a lot of personality and an edgy vibe. As I arrived at the Moxy York, I could hear the music, see guests having fun dancing and I was greeted by a table absolutely covered in delicious sweets, cakes, chocolate, crisps, etc. There was also a bedroom covered in feathers, with a model standing on the bed. Before I arrived the other bloggers had a pillow I fight with him haha. In another room was a silent disco with headphones and light up balloons.

It was also good to see some familiar faces performing a set in their band, Prty. Lets just say there was plenty of choice with regards to alcoholic beverages. York Gin and Whitley Neill gin were both in attendance, with pop up bars offering samples and complimentary drinks. At the other end of the room was a pop up bar by Red Bull, who were offering out cocktail style drinks in their branded paper cups.

The artwork throughout the hotel is really unique and adds to the quirkiness of the hotel. I couldn’t get many photos of it all though due to how many people were there that evening. I also had a quick glance in at the gym, which hotel guests can use during their stay.

Although the event was also open to the public and nearby businesses, I had such a great time! It was all really fun and the atmosphere was brilliant. I loved seeing inside the hotel. Thank you so much to Moxy York and their PR company for inviting me. I will definitely be stopping by every so often to use the workstations and for a drink as the hotel is local to me.
