December is special to me. Firstly, because Christmas is awesome and secondly, because it’s the two year anniversary of my blog. This is also the month where the voting began for the UK Blog Awards 2017. So, I decided it was time to tell you guys about my blogging history and how everything has unfolded so far.

First of all, I would like to say… many people seem to assume that blogging is easy and it’s just about getting free things – that isn’t the case at all. Blogging requires a lot of time, effort, planning and can be costly. As bloggers, we work incredibly hard to run our blogs. This is usually alongside our studies or working full time. That’s just how committed we bloggers are.
In my final year at university, I created a fashion blog aimed at sharkies and the Black Milk Clothing community, for a media module. What began as a fashion blog, has evolved into so much more. After seeing how much traffic a blog about one specific topic could get, I realised it was time to create something much more personal. Thus, www.louiseroserailton.com was born in December 2014.
In the first year, my blog grew pretty fast, totalling 9,000+ views in a year. Between December 2015 and now (December 2016), LouiseRoseRailton.com has grown again which I’m insanely proud of. Averaging 2,100+ views a month, with 13,400+ views for the whole year. We’re not even at the end of December yet so hopefully that statistic may even increase a bit more.

My hard work is also paying off in other ways. I’ve had some of the most amazing opportunities this year, including; #TasteOfInnTravel at Malton Cookery School, Blog At The Beach with Icelolly.com (see above photo – blog post coming very soon), #BonprixOnTheRocks, #WildAboutLeeds and Grassington House – to name a few. I’ve been trying to focus a bit more on travel and food, so my aim for 2017 will be to fully focus on those two topics. Following on from this, I’m also absolutely delighted to be able to say I’m nominated in the UK Blog Awards. I am in two categories, food and travel. The public have the option to vote for either categories or both together.
