Wales is one of the most magical, mythical and medieval places in the world. It’s little wonder that so many historical, fantasy and sci-fi movies have been filmed within its landscape. It’s also an amazing nation for those that love foreign languages. If you’re from America and you hear a local Welshman speaking Welsh Gaelic, you might think he’s from a mysterious land far far away. Well, actually you might have a case for that because Tolkien’s elves in Lord of the Rings, spoke a language that is based on Welsh Gaelic. And yes, the inspiration for the misty mountains was also taken from Wales. But, if you’re going to explore this beautiful land you need one thing. A camper van!
Why exactly?
Camper vans hold enough space for two people. It’s not quite a caravan but it’s not a hotel on wheels either. It’s a small people carrier or minivan that has been converted to have a bed, table, and seating. Not all camper vans are designed from the ground up to be this way. There are lots of Converted Camper Vans for Sale. The Volkswagen T6 is one of the more popular models because it provides plenty of headroom; ideal for when you’re trying to get up from a lying down position. The classic T2 is also present. Who doesn’t love the sight of the classic hippy bus slowly chugging along through the mountain passes?
A northern shore
Anglesey is one of the best places to visit while on your camper van road trip. It’s the most northern point in Wales and it has an incredible shoreline. The coast goes all around the landscape, giving you a view that you’ll never forget. Because it’s a high point, there are also many camper van sites that you can park up and make a home in. take the time to rest and eat, while enjoying the sights of giant cruise ships setting sail and the local fisherman coming in after their daily catch.
It’s wet but it’s stoic
The Brecon Beacons are breath-taking. No literally, it’s breath-taking, because it’s one of the most consistently cold places in Wales. It’s why the British Army uses it as one of their main training grounds. Royal Marines are often marching through the soggy march area and going up and down the hills. You’ll also see many bird species here because there’s plenty of food to go around. It might be wet but it’s a classic hallmark of the Welsh countryside.
Heading into town
Cardiff, the Welsh capital. It’s easily in the top 5 capital of Europe. It’s laid back, modern, clean, and the people are very friendly Here is where you can find cafes that offer the best Welsh cakes in the world. You can set up your camper van on the outer edges of the city, enjoy the seaside and then head into town for a fine dining experience in one of the Michelin starred restaurants.
Wales isn’t the largest nation in the world but it’s got one of the biggest hearts. Beautiful countryside, amazing coastline and plenty of space to get some peace and quiet.
