With that being said, here are five top tips for renovating your kitchen, which are helpful when you might be renovating for the first time.

Plan any changes in the layout

When renovating your kitchen, make sure to plan any changes in the layout. This is important because you might be planning to completely change the layout of the kitchen or you could be making a few adjustments that only involve moving one or two already fixed areas of the space. Planning is important and it might be worth working with an architect or interior designer when it comes to making any significant changes. For example, you might be looking down to knock a wall through or update the space further with structural changes.

Consider what needs to go and what can stay

For any renovation, there are degrees of demolition that you’ll do within the space. Some projects might be a complete blank canvas moment and others might be working with the current setup and adjusting it slightly. With that being said, consider what needs to go and what can stay. There may be some appliances that can be held onto and others that might need to be thrown away. Cabinets are often the first to go due to wear and tear.

Replace cabinet doors with glass doors

While some cabinets have seen better days and therefore need to be ripped from the wall, some might be salvageable. It’s a good idea that if you’re looking to hold onto any cabinets, you sand them down and repaint them. Alternatively, you could consider replacing your kitchen cabinet doors only with glass. Glass adds both an elegant and modern look to your kitchen space as a result, so it’s worth doing.

Add strip lighting for ambiance

To help provide a new look to your kitchen renovation, consider what lighting changes you might want to make. Strip lighting for example is a great way to add a new feel to the space. Of course, there are other lighting options that will create more light but this type of LED lighting underneath the kitchen cabinets and even inside the cabinets will transform the space.

Update your essential appliances

It’s good to get all of your essentials pre-ordered and ready to go into the space once the renovation has been completed. There’s nothing better than a new kettle and toaster set, or a beautiful new set of plates and bowls to go into your newly renovated kitchen!

Renovating a kitchen is a great transformation for your home and adds great value so make sure to do it properly when the opportunity comes around.
