Happy 80th Birthday Grandma – Afternoon Tea at Middlethorpe Hall

My lovely Grandma turned 80 on Friday and she wanted to celebrate her special birthday by having afternoon tea with her family.

I’ve been to Middlethorpe Hall before with my mum for afternoon tea, but I only remembered as I got inside the building.

I’m trying to stick to weight watchers at the moment, so I used my eating out guide and WW app on my phone, to make educated guesses on ProPoints.

We all had the Traditional Afternoon Tea option. We had our own private room and the table was set out beautifully. There were so many nice choices of tea, I opted for the China Rose Petal tea. It was really delicious.

The selection of finger sandwiches were:

  • Cucumber
  • Smoked Salmon
  • Egg Mayonnaise
  • Tomato

I opted for the smoked salmon and the egg mayonnaise finger sandwiches.

Next everyone had the home-made scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. Unfortunately I don’t like scones so I went straight for the next options, which was a selection of home-made biscuits, pastries and rich fruit cake.

We were all extremely full up afterwards, we didn’t even manage to finish it all. They brought us three boxes to full up with the remaining cakes to take home, which was nice.

I had such a lovely time with my family at Middlethorpe Hall. The afternoon tea was really nice and it was nice for my grandma to celebrate her 80th birthday. Happy Birthday Grandma!
